ECORISK, INC. represents an interdisciplinary network of environmental scientists, principally academics, in the fields of environmental toxicology and chemistry. Concerns are addressed from an objective non-biased perspective involving complex and often controversial environmental issues.

The ECORISK organization has been evolving for over a decade and focuses on the processes that implement ecological risk assessments while incorporating the principles of ecotoxicology.

ECORISK, INC. strives to develop and publish the highest quality science and reviews that contribute to the advancement of ecological risk assessment. The collaboration and cooperation of the consulting members gives ECORISK a unique approach to the science.

ECORISK services include project planning, consulting, risk assessment and research in toxicology and chemistry. As a result, Ecorisk operates under a formal Business Paradigm. All research, once identified and funding obtained, is contracted to the most appropriate testing facility(ies) and principal investigator(s) through fully authorized contracts between Ecorisk and the testing facility management. Facility contracts typically include a narrowly defined scope of work, a time schedule for completion for key milestones and a compensation schedule in addition to normal contractual language. All contracts include publication clauses which encourage publication with appropriate review periods. The scope of work is typically in the form of a research protocol which includes appropriate elements as defined in 40 CFR Part 160.120, the Good Laboratory Practice Standards, for research protocols. Independent consultants are contracted independently through signed consultant agreements. The choice of test facility, principal investigator and independent consultant is made by the Ecorisk President. The most highly qualified candidates are sought and obtained when ever possible.

Once a research initiative is contracted, ECORISK provides additional supportive services including project planning and management support, meeting and teleconference development and documentation, and independent Quality Assurance oversight and study inspection, as needed. The Quality Assurance program also offers individualized QA/QC training depending upon the development and experience of the research facility and staff, as well as provides intermittent guidelines and informational documents that support principal investigators and their research staff in obtaining high quality, well documented research that provides the necessary level of audit trail to meet the study needs. Ecorisk also maintains a variety of study tracking databases to support research timeliness and goals.
